Reed Mobility response to the UK Road Safety Strategy

Reed Mobility welcomes the publication of the Government’s new Road Safety Strategy. It rightly places renewed emphasis on a Safe System approach, recognising that road safety outcomes are shaped by the interaction between people, vehicles, roads and the wider system in which they operate. The inclusion of ambitious targets sends an important signal that road safety remains a key national priority and should galvanise coordinated action by the road safety sector and wider stakeholders.

Clear delivery plans, supporting indicators and continued engagement with delivery bodies such as local / roads authorities, police forces, and road safety charities will be key to translating the strategy into measurable improvements and preventing tragic loss of life and serious, life-changing injuries.

The supporting consultations will help to ensure that all can contribute to shaping road safety interventions, supporting the Government in aligning measures to societal perspectives in the relevant areas.

Reed Mobility looks forward to working with the Department for Transport, National Highways, local authorities, industry and the wider road safety community to support the development of implementation plans, performance frameworks and evidence-based interventions that will underpin the strategy’s objectives.
